The accounts of Nazi Zombies are based on rumours and accounts made many years after the supposed events, additionally there is very little coherant information online anymore (oddly enough some 5 years ago or so when we initially started our Zombie research we could find several fairly credible articles which are now untraceable even through the Wayback Machine) so we merely present the basic information for consideration.

The Nazi's upper Reich were well documented to be into esoteric and occult practices, mostly run by Himmler but with the support of Hitler, as well as bizarre medical experiments. Amongst their many activities they allegedly experimented with Zombies. They took freshly dead soldiers and through some chemical or satanic process (accounts vary so much on the actual method it's difficult to really discuss) reanimated them, there's two versions of the story at this point,

1 - The results of the reanimation were very strong and very violent. These zombies were released into a small Russian village as a test, and killed many people there until eventually they were taken out by SS squads.

2 - The results of the reanimation were released into a small Russian village as a test, but were not very active and simply stood there whilst the villagers hid in their homes. They were eventually destroyed by some SS squads, who also killed all the villagers so there would be no witnesses to the failed experiment.

The truth is difficult to say, especially as there is no documented evidence at all, at least online. It is tempting just to laugh it off as some ludicrous crazy Nazi story. But the facts of Himmler's fascination with the occult and his very strange beliefs, coupled with the huge amount of wealth that he could throw at his pet projects and the complete lack of humanity in the "scientific" experimentation on concentration camp prisoners make it difficult just to dismiss. Part of the attraction and glamour of the very darkest occult beliefs is the secrecy and the blurring between truth and fabrication, where the truth is here, we will probably never know.
