After the zombie holocaust, survivors were left to try and pick up the pieces, and the pieces of zombie left scattered around.

Those by the seaside soon learned to rely on their crabby little friends who lived amongst the rocks and crevices. With every load of remains gathered up, they would take them to the cliffs and throw them down onto the beaches below to allow the crabs to deal with them.

Committed and numerous, the busy hermit crabs would work aggressively to keep their beaches clean of detritus, including zombie flotsam, with their claws they would peel them apart and eat the remains. However, nothing is without consequence and these crabs grew bigger and faster and very territorial (possibly out of irritation at the annoying humans who kept littering!). Beaches inhabited by these special crabs became known as areas to tread in carefully, as the moody crustaceans were overly sensitive about trespassers and could do some considerable damage with their swift pincers.

The zombie leftovers were not just eaten however, in their search for suitable homes, the swiftly growing giant shellfish found another way to recycle the bits by picking the skulls clean and settling inside them.

And so these unique creatures found themselves forever remembered for their industry, aggression and curious choice of homes in The Zombie Zodiac.
